Patna: Bihar’s Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has warned power sector officials that negligence leading to unnecessary tripping and technical faults in the electricity network will not be tolerated, stressing the need for stricter monitoring and timely maintenance of transmission infrastructure.
The warning came during a high-level review meeting on Thursday that examined the operation and maintenance of the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), as well as the state’s two power distribution companies North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL). The meeting also reviewed the functioning of the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC).
Officials discussed the operational status of the transmission network, the performance of grid substations, the availability of transmission lines and the maintenance of critical equipment. Recent incidents of faults and tripping in the system were also reviewed in detail to identify areas requiring improvement.
Singh directed officials to conduct regular inspections and ensure timely maintenance of all transmission assets to improve the reliability of electricity supply. He emphasised the importance of maintaining grid stability, improving voltage levels across the network and strengthening coordination among various power sector agencies.
The energy secretary also instructed officials to respond quickly to any technical disruptions or power supply interruptions to minimise inconvenience to consumers. He reiterated that strict adherence to standard operating procedures is essential to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply in the state.
Senior officials from BSPTCL, both distribution companies and the SLDC attended the meeting, while regional officers from across Bihar joined the review through video conferencing.
