Patna: The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Tuesday raided several locations linked to Vivekananda, Superintending Engineer of the Samastipur Electricity Supply Unit, in connection with a corruption case involving assets disproportionate to income.
According to the EOU, confidential inputs suggested that Vivekananda had acquired assets worth about Rs 4.87 crore, compared to his legal income of Rs 2.74 crore, a difference of 77.84%. On this basis, Case No. 27/2025 was registered under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended 2018), and the Indian Penal Code.

Armed with a court-issued search warrant, EOU teams launched simultaneous raids across properties in Samastipur, Siwan, and Patna. These included his ancestral home in Siwan’s Santhi village, a residence in Patna’s Kashyap Green City, and his rented accommodation in Samastipur, as well as his office at the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited.
Officials confirmed that key documents and property papers were seized, though details of the recoveries will be shared once the raids are complete.

The action comes as the state government steps up vigilance on administrative and financial irregularities ahead of the assembly elections. The EOU said that further strict measures would follow if disproportionate assets are confirmed.
