Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Friday morning conducted raids at six locations associated with Bhavesh Kumar Singh, a development officer at the Pataliputra Central Co-operative Bank, in connection with a disproportionate assets investigation.
Searches were carried out at four premises in Patna and two in Gopalganj after the EOU received a corruption complaint and verified it. Officials said preliminary findings suggested that Singh possessed assets around 60% higher than his known income.
In Patna, the EOU searched flat number 203 at Pushpak Residential Apartments in Ramjaypal Nagar under Rupaspur police station, a five-storey property near Godam Gali in Zakariyarpur under Agamkuan police station, Jai Mata Di Rice Mill in Bela, Bihta, and the bank’s office on SP Verma Road.
The team also raided Singh’s ancestral home in Jalalpur village under Manjhgarh police station in Gopalganj, as well as Bhavana Petroleum, also located in Manjhgarh.
Complaint, case registration and search warrant
Officials said the raids followed a complaint alleging corruption by Singh. After an initial verification, a case was registered at the Economic Offences Police Station on Thursday. A court-issued search warrant enabled Friday’s coordinated raids.
The EOU said more detailed findings from the searches would be available later in the day as the investigation progresses.
