Patna: The second week of February has brought a noticeable shift in Bihar’s weather, with bright sunshine during the day, mild fog in the morning and a lingering chill at night marking a gradual transition towards warmer conditions.
Daytime temperatures have risen steadily in recent days, with the maximum temperature in some parts of the state crossing 30C on Wednesday under clear skies. In most districts, including Patna, maximum temperatures are hovering between 26C and 29C, while minimum temperatures range from 11C to 15C.
The combination of strong afternoon sunshine and cool nights has created what meteorologists describe as a “balanced” late-winter pattern. While the sun is intense during the day, westerly winds continue to lend a slight chill to mornings and late evenings.
Forecasters say there are no indications of major weather changes over the coming week. Patna is expected to see clear skies and bright sunshine during the day, with light fog possible in some areas during early morning hours before clearing by afternoon.

Meteorologists attribute the warmer spell to a weak western disturbance, lack of rainfall and a shift in wind direction, all of which have kept temperatures elevated compared with previous years. The absence of cloud cover has further intensified daytime heating, making afternoons feel warmer than usual for early February.
Experts also point to broader climatic variability, suggesting that shifting weather patterns linked to climate change may be contributing to the fluctuating temperatures.
As February progresses into its second half, longer daylight hours and stronger solar radiation typically reduce the intensity of winter. That seasonal trend now appears to be taking hold in Bihar, with warmer days becoming more frequent even as cool nights persist for a little longer.
