Authorities have imposed heightened security measures following a car bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday night that killed nine people. In response, the India–Nepal border has been sealed until November 11, and surveillance has been intensified across all frontier districts.
Among the key figures whose political fortunes will be decided in this phase are Bijendra Yadav (Supaul), Sumit Kumar Singh (Chakai), Jayant Raj (Amarpur), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu (Chhatapur), Leshi Singh (Dhamdaha), Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsiddhi), and Jama Khan (Chainpur).
This phase marks the final stretch of the two-part Bihar elections, where the first phase recorded a voter turnout of around 65% — the highest in 25 years. Counting of votes for all 243 assembly seats will take place on November 14, determining whether the ruling NDA retains power or the Grand Alliance mounts a comeback.
