Patna: The Election Commission of India will publish the final electoral roll for Bihar on Tuesday, as preparations intensify for the state’s legislative assembly elections in 2025.
The list, expected to include around 7.3 crore registered voters, will be available online through the commission’s official website. Citizens will be able to check their names digitally, while physical copies will also be kept with the District Election Officer and District Magistrate in each district. Political parties are set to receive the updated rolls as well.
Officials said nearly 14 lakh new voters are likely to feature in this year’s list. The voter verification exercise began in June, when 7.89 crore registered voters were asked to update their details. A draft roll, published on August 1, listed 7.24 crore names.
During the process, about 65 lakh names were struck off the records after being identified as deceased, relocated, or duplicates. The large-scale deletions sparked protests and criticism from opposition parties in Bihar and beyond.
