The 05133/05134 Chhapra–Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express will operate biweekly, halting at Siwan, Thawe, and Gorakhpur en route to Delhi. For many in Gopalganj, this new service means they will no longer have to travel to neighbouring districts such as Siwan or Gorakhpur to catch a direct train to the capital.
“This is not just about convenience; it’s about saving time and opening new doors for education, health, and employment,” said a passenger at the station.
MP Dr Alok Kumar Suman credited the initiative to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Ministry, adding that more direct services from Gopalganj to other major cities were on the horizon.
The rail boost continues on Tuesday, when the Tapti Ganga Express (19045/19046) will also begin operations from Thawe Junction. It will connect Gopalganj to Surat via Mashrakh, Chhapra, and Varanasi, offering another vital link for residents of the region.
Officials said preparations were complete and the train would be flagged off at 5 a.m., bringing yet another major city within direct reach of Gopalganj’s rail network.
