Patna: The monsoon is now weakening in Bihar, and the state is unlikely to receive any rainfall on Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department. Weather will remain clear across all districts, but residents should brace for humid heat and bright sunshine.
Temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius by October 1. However, a fresh spell of rain is forecast between October 2 and 6, with a lightning alert issued for several districts. The monsoon is expected to withdraw only after October 10, after which night temperatures will dip and a slight chill will set in.
Weather in the Last 24 Hours
Muzaffarpur recorded the highest temperature at 34.2 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. No rainfall was reported in any district, while Patna residents faced discomfort due to high humidity and sunshine.
Delayed Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon
Meteorologists noted that the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon has been delayed this year. Normally, it departs by the end of September, but this time it may extend until October 17. The delay is also causing a renewed chance of rainfall in the first week of October.
“Rain is more likely in districts of northern and eastern Bihar, such as Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria, Katihar, and Supaul,” weather experts said. In southern Bihar and the Magadh region, including Gaya, Aurangabad, and Nawada, light to moderate rainfall is expected.
Weather to Change Between October 2 and 6
Meteorologists said easterly winds will become active during the first week of October, raising atmospheric humidity and reviving monsoon activity. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is particularly likely in northern and eastern Bihar during this period.
