Banka: A strange case has come to light in Bihar’s Banka district, where an FIR has been lodged against a dead man. Niranjan Kumar, a primary school teacher, was accused of using a fake certificate for his job. The twist is that he died five years ago during the Covid pandemic, yet the vigilance bureau still registered a case against him last week.
Niranjan Kumar, a resident of Sondihgaon in Mirzapur panchayat, worked at Primary School Meharpur for many years. He had avoided certificate verification while in service. Later, when the monitoring team investigated, they found his documents to be fake. But by then, Kumar had already passed away. His family says they had submitted his death certificate to the education department, but even then an FIR was filed.
The family is shocked and upset at the negligence. They handed over his death certificate again to the police station on Friday. Officials said action will be taken based on the fresh evidence. Locals in the area are calling it an “amazing” example of mismanagement in the system.
The same investigation also exposed another case. Pallavi Kumari, a teacher from Sonvarsha posted at Primary School Jagtapur, was also found with fake documents. She has been missing since 2018. The two cases have sparked questions about how teacher recruitment and verification are handled in Bihar.
