Patna: Bihar Foundation organised Bihar Diwas 2026 celebrations across five of its Indian chapters—Chandigarh, Goa, Mumbai, Pune and Shillong—on March 22, showcasing the state’s cultural heritage and traditions as part of nationwide festivities.
Each location saw participation from members of the Bihari diaspora, local residents and dignitaries, with programmes featuring music, dance and traditional art forms reflecting Bihar’s diverse cultural identity. Eminent personalities and distinguished guests attended the events.
Cultural showcases and exhibitions
The celebrations included exhibition stalls and interactive platforms highlighting Bihar’s handloom, handicrafts, paintings and local products, providing artisans and entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their work.
According to organisers, around 1,000 people attended the event in Chandigarh, while more than 500 participants were recorded in each of the other cities.
Focus on diaspora engagement
Officials of Bihar Foundation said the events were aimed at strengthening ties with the diaspora and promoting Bihar’s cultural, economic and tourism potential.
They added that celebrations would continue in other Indian chapters in the coming days, including Bhopal, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Delhi, Surat, Agartala and Panchkula.
Global celebrations planned
International chapters of Bihar Foundation are also organising Bihar Diwas events in locations including Texas, Sydney, the Netherlands, Accra, Hong Kong, Finland, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Auckland and Japan.
Bihar Foundation, a registered society under the state’s department of industries, was established on July 27, 2007, following a government resolution dated November 24, 2006.
The organisation serves as a platform to connect the global Bihari diaspora and is guided by its core objectives of “Bonding, Branding and Business”.
It currently has 47 chapters worldwide, including 21 in India and 26 overseas, working to foster community ties among non-resident Biharis.
