Patna: Bihar Education Department is preparing to provide free coaching to students who failed their Matric and Intermediate examinations, with the programme expected to be introduced this year.
The proposed initiative will focus on students’ individual academic weaknesses rather than following a common preparation pattern. Expert teachers will help students prepare for the subjects in which they performed poorly.
Failed Students’ Data Being Collected
The department is collecting division-wise data on students who failed the Matric and Intermediate examinations.
The data will indicate the number of students preparing for re-examinations and the subjects in which they were unsuccessful. Officials will use this information to plan coaching arrangements.
Preparation Based On Previous Performance
The coaching programme will assess students’ previous marksheets to identify areas that require additional attention.
For example, a student who failed Mathematics but performed well in other subjects will receive greater focus on Mathematics. The department plans to use students’ previous examination performance to determine their preparation needs.
Coaching Centres Near Schools
The Education Department plans to establish coaching centres close to schools so students do not have to travel long distances for classes.
Arrangements may also be made to accommodate both Matric and Intermediate students at a common location where required. The approach is intended to reduce travel time and expenses for students.
Online Learning To Supplement Classes
The proposed programme will also include an online learning component. Students will receive study materials from expert teachers, allowing them to continue their preparation from home alongside offline classes.
Regular Tests To Track Progress
Students will undergo periodic short tests to assess their progress during the coaching period.
The test results will help teachers identify subjects or topics where students continue to face difficulties. Students who repeatedly perform poorly in a particular area may receive additional attention.
Officials To Monitor Coaching Centres
Education Department officials will monitor the functioning of the coaching centres and check whether classes are being conducted regularly.
They will also collect feedback on students’ participation and learning outcomes to assess the effectiveness of the programme.
Parents To Be Encouraged To Enrol Students
The department plans to appeal to parents to enrol eligible students in the free coaching programme.
The initiative is intended not only to help students clear their re-examinations but also to identify the academic gaps that contributed to their earlier performance and address them through targeted preparation.
