Gayaji: Preparations are in full swing in Gayaji for the annual Pitra Paksha Mela, which will take place from September 6 to September 21. Senior officials, including the Magadh Division Commissioner and the IG, inspected key sites such as Vishnupad, Sanvas Sadan, Devghat, Gajadhar Ghat and Gayaji Dam to review arrangements.
Every year, thousands of pilgrims gather in Gayaji during the 15-day ritual period to perform Tarpan for their ancestors. The administration has identified crowd management as its biggest challenge and is holding regular coordination meetings.
A control room has been set up in two shifts at Vishnupad Sanvas Sadan, equipped with a lost and found cell and facilities for pilgrims with disabilities. At Devghat, a large permanent pandal is being built to allow thousands of pilgrims to perform Tarpan together.
Authorities have also arranged ring bus services and e-rickshaws for visitors. Special focus is being given to sanitation, drinking water, toilets, changing rooms, lighting and accommodation sites to ensure pilgrims face no inconvenience.
The administration has appealed to residents of Gayaji to extend support in making the fair a success.
