Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a special campaign to control mosquito-borne diseases after heavy rainfall left several wards waterlogged.
Following an inspection by Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, waterlogging was reported in wards 02, 32, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 56. Concerned about the rising risk of dengue and chikungunya, the civic body has ordered immediate measures, including intensified anti-larva spraying in affected areas.
PMC has decided to deploy five additional anti-larva teams in each of the affected wards, in addition to the 375 teams already active across the city. Officials have directed sanitation inspectors, supervisors and nodal officers to monitor the drive closely and ensure workers spray 100% of their allotted areas. Workers must also share photos and videos of their work daily via WhatsApp groups to verify progress.
The civic body has appealed to citizens to cooperate by not allowing water to accumulate around their homes and by maintaining cleanliness. Residents have been asked to contact the PMC helpline on 155304 in case of problems.
