Patna: The Bihar government has announced a new skill development initiative designed to expand employment opportunities for young people across the state. Beginning on 6 October, the Department of Industries, in collaboration with the Tool Room and Training Centre (TRTC) Patna — an institute under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises — will launch a three-month, fully residential training programme.
The scheme will provide free, employment-oriented courses in some of the most in-demand technical trades, including CNC lathe, CNC milling, tool and die making, and AC and refrigerator repair. Participants will attend eight hours of practical and theoretical classes each day, with the institute covering accommodation and meals.
The program has been designed with a strong emphasis on modern technology and hands-on learning, reflecting the government’s broader ambition to boost employability through technical education.
Eligibility varies by course: candidates for CNC and tool-making programs must have completed 12th standard, ITI or a diploma, while those applying for the AC and refrigerator repair course must have completed 12th standard or ITI in the electrician trade. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 40 years.
Selected participants will be asked to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs.1,000, which will be returned upon successful completion of training.
Announcing the initiative, officials said the scheme was part of Bihar’s drive to make its youth more self-reliant and industry-ready. The government has urged eligible candidates to take advantage of the opportunity, highlighting the potential for better job placements both within the state and beyond.
