Patna: Bihar government has transferred 12 IPS officers in a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening policing and improving accountability across the state. The Home Department (Police Branch) issued the notification on Tuesday, assigning new responsibilities to officers from the Director General (DG) rank to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) level.
The reshuffle also includes the promotion of eight Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), alongside changes in key operational and administrative positions.
Senior Officers Given New Roles
Preeta Verma, a 1991-batch IPS officer, has been appointed Director General of Home Guards and Fire Services.
Nirmal Kumar Azad, a 1994-batch officer, has been posted as Director General (Training). He will also hold the additional charge of the Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau.
The Home Department has assigned additional responsibilities to several senior officers as part of the restructuring.
Pankaj Darad Shifted From SVU
Pankaj Kumar Darad, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, replacing his earlier assignment with the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU).
Sudhanshu Kumar, who is serving as Additional Director General (Traffic), has been given the additional charge of the Special Vigilance Unit.
Amrit Raj has been appointed Additional Director General of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), while Kare Suhita Annapurna will serve as Additional Director General (Law and Order).
New Postings for IG-Rank Officers
The reshuffle also includes changes at the Inspector General level.
Rajesh Kumar has been appointed Inspector General of the Special Task Force (STF), while Pankaj Kumar Raj will take charge as Inspector General (Railways). S. Premlata has been posted as Inspector General of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP).
Changes at District and Field Level
Among the younger IPS officers, Garima has been posted as Commandant of BSAP-9 in Jamalpur.
Shivam Thakur has been appointed Rural Superintendent of Police in Madhubani, while Komal Meena has been posted as SDPO-2 (Law and Order) in Patna.
Officers Asked to Join Immediately
The Home Department has directed all transferred officers to assume charge of their new assignments without delay.
According to the government, the reshuffle is intended to improve the efficiency of the police administration and strengthen law and order across Bihar. The simultaneous promotion of eight DSPs is also expected to support operational and administrative requirements within the state police force.
