Patna: Bihar is likely to see a change in weather from Saturday, with the Met office predicting cloudy skies across much of the state and light drizzle in some areas. Heavy rain alerts have been issued for Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj.
On Friday, Patna and several other districts have been warned of thunderstorms and lightning, with winds expected to blow at speeds of 30–40 kmph.
The last 24 hours saw varying levels of rainfall across the state. Jale in Darbhanga recorded the highest at 38.2 mm, while Marauna in Supaul registered 29.2 mm and Ghanshyampur in Darbhanga 28.8 mm. Rainfall was also reported in Madhubani, Sheikhpura, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Gopalganj, Khagaria, Kishanganj, Vaishali and other districts.
Temperatures dropped in 24 districts, with Patna recording a maximum of 34°C on Thursday. Rajgir was the hottest spot in the state at 34.5°C. Despite the fall, many residents struggled with humid heat due to intermittent sunshine and cloud cover.
According to Patna Meteorological Centre, northern Bihar is expected to see heavy rainfall over the next three to four days.
