Hyderabad/Patna: The Bihar government has stepped up efforts to strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem by pursuing new partnerships with national MSME institutions and the Bihari diaspora, as it works on a fresh policy framework to boost entrepreneurship, investment and employment.
Kundan Kumar, Secretary of the Industries Department and Managing Director of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA), visited Hyderabad on Thursday for a series of high-level meetings focused on industrial collaboration and MSME development.
The visit forms part of the state’s broader strategy to position Bihar as a major industrial and investment destination through reforms aimed at strengthening the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector.
Focus On New MSME Policy
During the visit, Kumar held discussions with Vivek Kumar, Programme Director and Rector at the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ni-MSME), Government of India, and Surya Prakash, Director of Skill and Entrepreneurship Development at MSME Telangana.
The discussions centred on institutional partnerships and strategies to modernise Bihar’s MSME ecosystem, making it more competitive and investment-friendly.
Officials explored proposals for restructuring Bihar’s MSME Directorate, preparing a new state MSME policy and strengthening institutional capacity to support entrepreneurship, innovation and employment generation.
The two sides also exchanged views on adopting best practices that could contribute to sustainable industrial growth in Bihar.
Reaching Out To Bihar’s Diaspora
As part of the Hyderabad visit, Kumar also met representatives of the Bihar Foundation’s Hyderabad chapter and members of the Bihari community living in the city.
The meeting was attended by Manvendra Mishra, Chairman of the Bihar Foundation Hyderabad Chapter, Uttam Yadav, the chapter’s Secretary, Hareram Singh, President of the Bihar Association, and other members of the diaspora.
Discussions focused on encouraging greater investment in Bihar, strengthening industrial partnerships and expanding the participation of Non-Resident Biharis in the state’s economic development.
Push To Attract Investment
Speaking during the visit, Kumar said the Bihar government remained committed to creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, industrial development and private investment.
He said partnerships with industry institutions and engagement with the global Bihari diaspora would play an important role in strengthening the state’s MSME sector and supporting Bihar’s long-term industrial ambitions.
The outreach comes as Bihar continues efforts to attract investment, expand manufacturing and improve industrial infrastructure through policy reforms, institutional collaboration and stronger engagement with industry stakeholders.
