Patna: Several senior IAS and IFS officers from Bihar are likely to be sent on central deputation, with the development coinciding with chief minister Nitish Kumar’s election to the Rajya Sabha and adding to speculation of administrative changes in the state.
According to administrative sources, the state government has already cleared a list of officers for deputation to central postings, with final approval from the Union government awaited. Once cleared, the officers are expected to take up assignments in Delhi.
Among those whose names are being discussed are IAS officer Anupam Kumar, currently serving as secretary to the chief minister; B Rajendra, additional chief secretary in the education department; and IAS officer Pratima S Verma, currently serving as Science, Technology & Technical Education Department. IFS officer Gopal Singh, officer on special duty to the chief minister, is also believed to be under consideration.
While there has been no official confirmation, discussions within bureaucratic circles suggest that the process is at an advanced stage. Typically, such deputations are finalised only after clearance from the Centre.
The timing of the move has drawn particular attention, coming alongside Nitish Kumar’s transition to the Rajya Sabha. Political observers say the shift could potentially lead to a broader administrative reshuffle, depending on future leadership decisions in the state.
For now, both political and bureaucratic circles remain focused on the next steps, as Bihar awaits clarity on central approvals and the possible reconfiguration of its administrative structure.
