Gopalganj: A Non-Bailable Warrant has been issued against Amarendra Kumar Pandey, a legislator from the Janata Dal (United), in connection with a land grabbing case in Bihar’s Gopalganj district.
The order was passed by the MP-MLA special court in Gopalganj, naming Amarendra Kumar Pandey, also known as Pappu Pandey, his brother Satish Pandey and chartered accountant Rahul Tiwari as accused in the case.
Following the issuance of the warrant, police teams from Kuchaykot Police Station have intensified efforts to arrest the trio. Officials said two special teams have been formed on the instructions of superintendent of police Vinay Tiwari, and raids are being conducted at multiple locations.
According to police sources, all three accused have gone into hiding since the warrant was issued.
The case stems from an FIR lodged on April 1 by Jitendra Kumar Rai at Kuchaykot police station. The complaint alleges that the accused conspired with land mafias to illegally take over land by preparing forged documents.
The FIR further states that the accused attempted to pressure the complainant to facilitate the transfer of around 16 acres and 93 decimals of land in Belwa village into their names. When resisted, they allegedly broke the locks of several rooms on the property, replaced them with their own, and opened fire with intent to kill.
Police said further investigation is under way and efforts are being made to locate and arrest the accused.
