Patna: The Union Public Service Commission conducted the NDA, NA-1 and CDS-1 examinations across centres in Patna on Sunday, with around 70% of registered candidates appearing for the test.
Officials said the examinations were held under strict security arrangements and passed off peacefully, with administrative measures described as satisfactory.
Candidates reported that the overall difficulty level of the paper was high, particularly in the General Knowledge and current affairs sections. Many questions required in-depth understanding and proved time-consuming, making time management a major challenge for aspirants.
The mathematics section was widely described as the most difficult. Students said several questions were complex and concept-based, requiring more time to solve. Some candidates were unable to attempt all questions, raising concerns about its impact on overall merit.
In contrast, the English paper was considered relatively easy. Most candidates found it balanced, with grammar and comprehension questions of moderate difficulty. Many described it as a scoring section that provided some relief during the exam.
The CDS examination was conducted in two sessions, from 9am to 11am and 12:30pm to 2:30pm, while the NDA and NA exams were held in multiple sessions with strict adherence to timing. Entry was not permitted after the scheduled time, leading to several candidates missing the exam due to late arrival.
Minor technical issues were reported at some centres during face authentication, though these were resolved quickly. Authorities ensured thorough verification before allowing entry, maintaining strict vigilance to prevent irregularities.
Officials emphasised punctuality, noting that latecomers were not allowed under any circumstances, reinforcing the importance of timely arrival for candidates.
