Patna: The Bihar government has reported the creation of 63,115 new employment opportunities across the state over the past seven months, according to official data reviewed in Patna on Friday.
Officials also said that 68,822 young people had secured employment opportunities through the state-run Bihar Rozgar Setu portal, a digital platform aimed at matching candidates with jobs based on qualifications and skills.
The figures were discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by development commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh.
Review of youth employment schemes
The meeting focused on the progress of programmes being run by the youth, employment and skill development department under the state government’s Saat Nischay-3 initiative.
Officials presented updates on targets achieved so far and outlined plans for expanding employment and skill-building measures.
The review also examined ways to strengthen implementation and improve access to jobs and self-employment opportunities.
Focus on skills and global opportunities
A key area of discussion was skill development aligned with changing industry demands, including training in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and coding.
Officials also reviewed plans to prepare young people in Bihar for employment opportunities outside the state and overseas.
The government said the objective was to equip candidates with skills suited to both domestic and international labour markets.
Time-bound action plan sought
Mihir Kumar Singh directed departments involved in the programme to prepare a time-bound action plan to ensure targets under Saat Nischay-3 are met on schedule.
Officials said the plan would focus on improving training quality and expanding pathways for employment and self-employment for young people in Bihar.
