Patna: The Bihar government will complete a subject-wise review of teacher vacancies and postings before launching the next phase of teacher recruitment under TRE-4, education minister Mithilesh Tiwari has said.
The minister said the exercise was aimed at addressing imbalances in teacher deployment across schools and ensuring future appointments are based on actual requirements.
His remarks come at a time when thousands of teacher recruitment aspirants in the state are awaiting the next notification.
Department reviewing teacher data
Speaking on the issue, Tiwari said the education department was in the process of correcting its records to identify how many teachers are currently serving in each subject and where vacancies exist.
He said the review was necessary because earlier appointments had, in some cases, resulted in uneven distribution of teachers.
According to the minister, some schools have multiple teachers in the same subject, while others continue to operate without a teacher for that subject.
Rationalisation before fresh recruitment
Tiwari said the department had started a rationalisation process after he took charge and expected it to be completed within the next four to five days.
Only after this exercise, he said, would vacancies under TRE-4 be released.
He added that the government intends to recruit teachers only in subjects where shortages are confirmed.
Focus on balanced deployment
The minister said the aim of the review was not just to make appointments, but to ensure schools receive teachers according to need.
He also said discussions had been held with the chief minister on improving teacher deployment and addressing service-related concerns.
According to Tiwari, teacher satisfaction remains important for improving classroom outcomes.
Women teachers may get nearby postings
The minister also said the government was considering posting women teachers, as far as possible, closer to their homes.
He said the move would help them balance family responsibilities with teaching duties more effectively.
The review is expected to shape the next phase of teacher recruitment and could lead to administrative changes in how postings are managed across Bihar.
