Katihar: A shocking incident took place in Katihar district of Bihar where a father and son were burnt alive by unknown attackers. The two were sleeping on the veranda of their house when petrol was thrown on them and they were set on fire. The 12-year-old boy, Sunil Kumar, died during treatment, while his father, Ram Kalyan Mandal, is in critical condition.

The attack happened late Thursday night in Kachora village under the Kadwa police station area. Sunil and his father were sleeping outside the house, while his younger brother was sleeping inside with their grandfather. Hearing screams, the family and neighbours rushed to help and took the injured to Durgaganj Hospital. They were later shifted to Katihar Sadar Hospital. Sunil was then referred to Bhagalpur and finally to Patna for treatment, but he died on the way.

Sunil’s grandfather, Laxmi Mandal, has filed a police complaint. Villagers are angry, claiming the police arrived late. They believe the attackers could have been caught if the police had acted quickly. There was no damage to the house, which has raised more questions about the motive.

Police say they have started an investigation and are searching for the attackers. Local leaders and social workers have visited the village and demanded strong action. The village remains tense, and extra police have been deployed to prevent any further trouble.
