Patna: Bihar is moving to strengthen its industrial base with the creation of a state-wide land bank valued at Rs 26,000 crore, Industry and Road Construction Minister Dilip Jaiswal announced on Monday. The initiative, aimed at attracting both large and small-scale industries, has already seen land acquisitions across 21 districts.
According to Jaiswal, around 37 industrial projects are currently underway, including the near-completion of the Adani ACC cement factory. Major companies such as JK Cement, Coca-Cola, and Ashok Leyland are also establishing operations in the state. In parallel, the government is focusing on supporting small-scale and cottage industries, particularly for young entrepreneurs.
“The government will provide full support for this. We will provide land and training to young people,” Jaiswal said, urging the youth to “not look for jobs; become job creators.” He added that incubation centres are being set up to help young people understand the nuances of startups, while assistance for establishing industries has been increased beyond the previous Rs 10 lakh offered to entrepreneurs.
Jaiswal emphasised that the rule of law prevails in Bihar under the BJP-NDA government, which returned to power with a clear majority. “Investors have gained confidence and want to invest in Bihar. The people of Bihar prefer a government that ensures law and order, not ‘jungle raj’,” he said.
He also highlighted the role of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has spent the past two decades travelling across the state to assess local needs and strengthen governance. During a pre-election “progress tour,” Kumar personally evaluated gaps in medical and engineering education, industrial zones, and land availability, ensuring funding was allocated within 15 days for identified projects. Many of these initiatives are now nearing completion.
“More industries will be established in the next five years than have been set up since independence,” Jaiswal added, signalling a renewed focus on economic development and employment generation in the state.
