Buxar: Three children died and two others were injured after being struck by lightning in Buxar district’s Nawanagar block on Monday evening. The incident occurred during heavy rain and strong winds while the children were collecting mangoes in an orchard.
The victims, aged between 9 and 19, were caught in the open when the lightning struck. Two other children were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Ankit Kumar (9) from Maniya village, Prince Kumar (12), and Dharmendra Ram (19), both from Sara village. The injured are Priyanka (9) from Maniya village and Vikas Kumar (6) from Sara village.
Following the incident, the district administration has warned people against venturing into open areas during thunderstorms.
The Meteorological Department has predicted more thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in the coming days, advising people to stay indoors and take necessary precautions.
