Kaimur: A road accident occurred on Thursday night near Devkali on National Highway-19 under the Mohania police station limits in Kaimur district, resulting in the death of a young man and serious injuries to another.
According to police, the incident took place when a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle, killing Abhijeet Pandey on the spot. His companion, Omprakash Gupta, sustained critical injuries and was referred to a higher medical facility for treatment.
Abhijeet, a resident of Avariya village under the Durgawati police station area, was returning home after purchasing goods from Mohania. The items were intended for the thirteenth-day ritual (tehravin) of his elder brother, scheduled for Friday.
Local Leaders Respond
Congress Women’s Cell District President Neetu Kumari reached the accident site immediately after the incident. She rushed the injured Omprakash to the Subdivision Hospital in Mohania, where doctors declared Abhijeet dead on arrival. Omprakash was later referred to the Trauma Center in Banaras for advanced treatment.
Geeta Pasi, District Council Member from Mohania, confirmed that the body was sent to Bhabua for postmortem. The local police have launched an investigation into the accident and are working to identify and trace the truck involved.
