Bhojpuri Item Queen’s Nomination Rejected: Seema Singh Out of Electoral Race as Chirag Paswan Receives First Blow in Bihar Elections

The Marhaura Assembly constituency in Bihar’s Saran district has witnessed a dramatic electoral shift after the Returning Officer rejected the nomination papers of four candidates, including the much-touted LJP (Ram Vilas) aspirant, Seema Singh. Known in the film world as the 'Bhojpuri Item Queen,' Singh's anticipated entry into politics has been stalled due to "deficiencies and technical errors" in her documents.

Patna: The high-stakes electoral race for the Marhaura Assembly seat took an unexpected turn as the nomination of LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Seema Singh was invalidated on procedural grounds. The returning officer confirmed the papers were rejected following a mandatory scrutiny process which revealed crucial technical errors, a common pitfall for first-time aspirants.

The rejection is considered a major setback, particularly for the LJP (Ram Vilas) and the broader National Democratic Alliance (NDA), where Seema Singh was seen as a potent candidate capable of leveraging her significant regional fame and glamour to draw crowds. Local LJP supporters have expressed palpable disappointment, viewing the loss of their star candidate as a missed opportunity to challenge the opposition decisively.

Equation Evolved: A Two-Way Battle Emerges

With the star candidate out of the running, the political equation in Marhaura has simplified overnight. Election experts now suggest the contest will narrow down to a primary fight involving the incumbent MLA, Jitendra Kumar Rai of the RJD (a former minister in the Bihar government), and other key opposition figures, most notably from the rising Jan Suraaj platform.

“The vacuum created by the LJP candidate’s withdrawal is substantial,” noted a local political analyst. “The bulk of the votes she may have attracted will now be redistributed, primarily strengthening the existing RJD base and intensifying the challenge from non-NDA contenders.”

The Election Office was quick to clarify that the rejection, which also affected the BSP’s Aditya Kumar and two Independent candidates, was a result of strict adherence to the scrutiny process, assuring that no negligence or bias was involved.

A Rebellion Stalled: JD (U) Rebel Also Out

Adding to the drama, the nomination of Altaf Alam Raju, who had previously contested from Marhaura on a JD (U) ticket and filed this time as an independent rebel after being denied a party ticket, was also cancelled. This dual rejection—of a high-profile LJP candidate and a prominent JD (U) dissident—removes two significant and unpredictable variables from the field, allowing the RJD incumbent a clearer path forward.

From Stage to State: The Political Journey of Seema Singh

Seema Singh, a well-known personality in the Bhojpuri film industry, was attempting a significant pivot from her established career into public service. Her nomination had already garnered considerable attention, not just for her celebrity status but also for the details revealed in her election affidavit.

The affidavit revealed that the candidate is a 9th-grade pass, having cleared her exams in 1999 from The Rem Hegar Hinde High School in Dombivali (East), Thane, Maharashtra. This background highlighted her journey of hard work and ambition—establishing herself in the glamorous world of cinema and then attempting to leverage that success for a political career in her home region.
