Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said that mines and geology department is all set to meet its revenue target collection of Rs 3800 crore in the current financial year.
The department has, so far, raked in Rs 3252 crore, Sinha said while exuding confidence that it will achieve its revenue target of Rs 3800 crore in the current fiscal.
“There are still five-six days left in the current financial year. The department has collected Rs 3252 crore till date and we expect to get Rs 400 crore from other work departments and Rs 150 crore from ghats. So we expect to get around Rs 550 crore in next one week which will meet our revenue target for this year,” Sinha said adding that more than 10 districts have achieved more than their revenue target this year.
“We expect to meet our target in the current fiscal despite people surrendering 78 ghats,” Sinha, who also holds mines and geology department, said.
Sinha, accompanied by Mines Director Manesh Kumar Meena, was talking to reporters here at his official chamber.
The department had collected Rs 1600 crore revenue in 2021-22 which increased to much more than double to Rs 3536 crore in 2024-25, Sinha said.
BIHARI YODDHA PURASHKAR TO 24 PEOPLE
Dy CM transferred Rs 5,000 to 24 recipients of “Bihari Khanan Yoddha Purashkar”.
The Minister said that the money has been transferred directly into their bank accounts of 24 informants as part of the department’s initiative “Bihari Khanan Yoddha Purashkar” launched to check illegal mining and overloading. Those providing information on illegal mining, transportation and overloading by tractor will receive Rs 5,000 while those giving information about illegal movement by truck will be rewarded with Rs 10,000.
Notably, the minister had on March 12 last (2026) transferred Bihari Khanan Yoddha Purashkar money to 72 people.
Giving stern warning that to those who surrendered 78 ghats in the state, Dy CM unequivocally asserted that the companies, which have surrendered sand mining leases, will not be allowed to participate in the fresh tender for allotment of sand mining lease in the state.
The companies have surrendered their sand mining leases for 78 sand ghats to the department citing massive losses, said Sinha.
“The companies have surrendered their sand mining leases for 78 sand ghats to the department. It has caused a revenue loss to the tune of around Rs 700 crore to the department. These companies cited massive losses as the reason for surrendering lease license,” Sinha said.
MINING BLOCK
The Central government has auctioned four major mining blocks- three in in Rohtas for Glauconite and one in Gaya for nickel, chromium and platinum- have been successfully completed, he said adding that the auction was held on March 23, 2026.
