Patna: Academic activities at four new minority residential schools in Bihar will begin on August 17, with school buildings in Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur and Muzaffarpur now complete.
Minority Welfare Minister Md Jama Khan announced the development at a press conference on Friday at the Information and Public Relations Department’s media hall.
Officials including Minority Welfare Department Secretary Md Sohail, Special Secretary Dr Aamir Afaq Ahmad Faizi and Under Secretary Ibrar Ahmad Khan were present at the briefing.
Schools Planned In Every District
Khan said the department aims to establish a minority residential school in every district of Bihar.
The government has approved construction of schools in 24 districts, including Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Purnia, Madhubani, Gaya, Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur, Katihar, Begusarai, West Champaran, Supaul, Muzaffarpur, Madhepura, Patna, Saharsa, Munger, Siwan, East Champaran, Bhagalpur, Araria, Gopalganj, Rohtas and Buxar.
Schools in Darbhanga and Kishanganj are already operational.
Online Classes And Coaching Planned
The department also plans to introduce online learning facilities and coaching for competitive examinations at the residential schools.
The move is intended to expand access to additional academic support for students enrolled in the residential school system.
288 Teachers To Be Recruited
The department has sought the recruitment of 288 teachers through the TRE-4 process to strengthen teaching staff at minority residential schools.
A requisition for the recruitment has already been sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
At present, 481 teaching and non-teaching posts have been sanctioned for the operation of 13 minority residential schools.
Separately, the department has sent a requisition for the recruitment of one District Welfare Officer and 459 Block Minority Welfare Officers.
