Patna: The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) has launched a statewide inspection drive under the initiative “Mission Project Completion” to accelerate ongoing infrastructure works under the Namami Gange programme. The move aims to ensure that key projects, particularly sewage treatment plants (STPs) and interception and diversion (I&D) systems, are completed before the arrival of the monsoon.
As part of the initiative, six inspection teams from BUIDCO headquarters will visit different districts simultaneously each week to assess the progress of construction projects. The teams are scheduled to conduct on-site inspections on Saturday, March 7, covering locations including Dehri, Jamui, Supaul, Kahalgaon, Motihari and Raxaul.
The initiative follows instructions from BUIDCO’s managing director, Animesh Kumar Parashar, who has directed project officials across the state to prioritise completion of major works ahead of the monsoon season. Under the new work schedule, officers and engineers will carry out office-related duties for five days of the week and spend two days in the field to monitor construction activities and address any issues on the ground.
During inspections, teams will review several aspects of the projects, including safety arrangements at construction sites, quality of materials and construction work, and the status of drainage connections. Officials will also collect geo-tagged photographs and verify project layouts to ensure compliance with approved plans.
The inspection teams are also expected to identify challenges at construction sites and provide on-the-spot guidance to resolve them. BUIDCO said the approach is intended to prevent delays and maintain construction standards across the projects.
After completing their visits, each team will submit a detailed report to the headquarters. The reports will help senior officials review the progress and quality of works across districts. Based on these findings, further surprise inspections may be conducted to verify the implementation and ensure accountability.
Officials said the rotation system will allow the inspection teams to cover projects in all 38 districts of Bihar in the coming weeks, strengthening monitoring of key infrastructure linked to the Namami Gange programme.
