Patna: The southwest monsoon remained active across Bihar on Saturday, bringing widespread rainfall to several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the wet spell is set to continue on Sunday, July 12, issuing a heavy rainfall alert for 19 districts and a Yellow Alert for another 19 districts, including Patna.
The weather office said light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue across much of the state over the next five days as favourable monsoon conditions persist.
Heavy Rain Alert Across 19 Districts
According to the IMD, several districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall on Sunday, while thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely in many parts of the state.
Patna is among the districts placed under a Yellow Alert, where intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected.
Residents have been advised to avoid open areas during lightning and exercise caution while travelling in heavy rain.

Bihar Still Faces Rainfall Deficit
Despite the recent spell of rain, Bihar continues to record below-normal monsoon rainfall this season.
Between June 1 and July 11, the state received 155.9 mm of rainfall against the normal 288.5 mm, leaving it with a 46% rainfall deficit.
However, the active monsoon has improved rainfall in several districts, raising hopes that the seasonal shortfall could narrow in the coming weeks.

Waterlogging Reported In Several Districts
Persistent rainfall caused waterlogging in several towns and cities on Saturday.
In Darbhanga, water entered the Municipal Corporation office, Town Hall Road, the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) campus and its medicine ward, affecting patients and hospital operations.
In Begusarai, several roads were submerged under two to three feet of water following heavy rain.
At the Referral Hospital in Mokama, rainwater entered the building, disrupting services at the outpatient department, registration counter and medicine distribution centre.
Patna also witnessed waterlogging in parts of the Secretariat, LNJP Hospital in Rajvanshi Nagar and several localities in Rajiv Nagar and Patna City.
Rainfall Above Normal In Some Districts
The IMD said rainfall has been significantly above normal in districts including Patna, Khagaria, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Katihar.
However, districts such as Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Gaya, Jamui, Aurangabad and Siwan continue to record below-normal rainfall.
Over the past 24 hours, Kaimur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 34.2°C, while Muzaffarpur registered the lowest minimum temperature at 29.4°C.
Rain To Continue In Patna
The IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies over Patna until July 15, with intermittent showers and thunderstorms likely during the period.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 32°C, while humidity levels are likely to stay high.
Cloud Cover Shifts Towards Eastern India
According to the IMD and weather platform Windy.com, cloud cover has shifted towards eastern and northeastern India, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
Meteorologists said this weather pattern is expected to support continued rainfall over Bihar, even as rainfall activity is forecast to weaken over several western and central Indian states in the coming days.
