Patna: The monsoon continues to remain active across Bihar, with the India Meteorological Department on Sunday issuing a yellow alert for 26 districts. The affected areas are expected to see light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning.
Officials at the Patna Meteorological Centre said the monsoon is likely to remain active in the state for the next seven days, with heavy downpours predicted in several districts during this period.
Meteorologists attributed the conditions to a monsoon trough currently passing towards West Bengal via Bihar and Jharkhand, alongside a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. High humidity levels are also fuelling rainfall across the state.
The active spell is expected to bring down maximum temperatures by two to three degrees below normal. In Patna, overcast skies since Saturday have already led to light to moderate showers. Forecasters said the capital and its neighbouring districts may see rain and gusty winds of 30–40 km/h in the next 24 hours.
Patna’s maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30°C, with the minimum around 25°C.
