Nawada: Two brothers were injured in a shooting incident on Saturday night in Bihar’s Nawada district, as unidentified assailants opened fire in the busy Hisua market area. The attack, which took place near Darbar Chowk around 9pm, has once again raised concerns over law and order in the state.
The victims have been identified as Neeraj Prakash Lal and his brother Naveen Kumar, both residents of Hisua Darbar. According to local reports, the assailants—believed to be six in number—arrived on two Apache motorcycles. Initially, they requested electrical switches from Neeraj, who was returning home after closing his office. Suspicious of the request, Neeraj informed them the shop was shut and asked them to return the next morning.
The confrontation quickly escalated. One of the men allegedly struck Neeraj with a helmet, while another drew a firearm and began firing. A bullet grazed Neeraj’s head. His brother Naveen, who rushed to the scene after hearing gunshots, was also reportedly assaulted. The attackers fled after firing approximately six rounds.
A video of the incident has since emerged, showing the attackers firing without hesitation in the crowded area.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after and recovered two bullet shells, two pellets, a live cartridge, and a semi-automatic pistol. Hisua police station in-charge Anil Kumar Singh said an investigation is underway and that efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the suspects.
