New Delhi/Patna: Internal turmoil within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar appears to have been temporarily put to rest after Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Wednesday.

Following the high-stakes meeting at Shah’s residence, Kushwaha, who had previously stated that “all was not well” within the alliance, struck a harmonious note. He affirmed to the media that the alliance is unified and will secure a victory in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. Kushwaha had travelled to Delhi from Patna on Wednesday morning alongside Union Minister Nityanand Rai to address the simmering concerns.

Kushwaha Compromise: Rajya Sabha Re-entry

Sources close to the development suggest that the resolution involved a significant personal guarantee for Kushwaha, whose current Rajya Sabha term is set to expire in April 2026. To ensure his continued political relevance and quell discontent among his supporters, Kushwaha will reportedly be re-elected to the Rajya Sabha and provided one Legislative Council (MLC) seat for his party. This move is seen as the central compromise that paved the way for his declaration of renewed alliance confidence.

JD (U)-LJP(RV) Conflict Over Key Seats

While Kushwaha’s immediate issues appear settled, tensions continue between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) over seat allocation in several constituencies, indicating that internal distribution battles are far from over.

The most notable clash occurred over the Sonbarsa seat. Despite the seat reportedly being earmarked for LJP(RV) in earlier joint NDA lists, JD (U) stood firm on its decision to renominate its sitting MLA and Minister, Ratnesh Sada. In a clear display of resolve, Nitish Kumar personally handed the party symbol to Sada on Monday.

A JD (U) leader also confirmed that the Chief Minister is “upset” with Chirag Paswan’s faction for securing the Rajgir seat.

Chirag Paswan Solidifies LJP(RV) Cadre

Amid the coalition disputes, LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan is actively moving ahead to solidify his party’s position. He recently distributed party symbols to four key candidates, confirming their nominations: Hulas Pandey (Brahmapur), Raju Tiwari (Govindganj), Seemant Mrinal (Garkha), and Sanjay Paswan (Bakhri). Seemant Mrinal, also known as Prince, is notably Chirag Paswan’s nephew.
