Patna: The Bihar government has placed the state on high alert ahead of the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, announcing extensive security, logistics, and monitoring arrangements to ensure a fair and controversy-free conduct of the exam.
High-Level Review and Administrative Oversight
Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar conducted a joint review meeting of examination preparedness and issued directives to senior officials to maintain strict vigilance. According to officials, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has also reviewed the arrangements at a high level.
Authorities stated that any form of malpractice will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those attempting to disrupt the examination process.
Air Force and Postal Department for Paper Transport
For the first time, question papers will be transported using coordination between the Indian Air Force and the Department of Posts. Officials said this arrangement is expected to significantly reduce transit time, ensuring delivery to examination hubs within two to three hours.
The government described the move as a measure to strengthen security and reduce risks associated with paper movement across districts.
Examination Infrastructure Across Bihar
A total of 331 examination centres have been set up across 34 districts and 35 cities in Bihar. More than 1,56,000 candidates are expected to appear for the examination.
Patna will record the highest participation with 46,029 candidates across 95 centres, according to official data shared by the administration.
Security and Surveillance Measures
The police have been instructed to maintain continuous monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of rumours or fake question papers. Officials said immediate action, including arrests where necessary, will be taken against individuals involved in circulating misinformation.
Intelligence agencies will also keep a close watch on coaching institutes, particularly those previously linked to exam-related controversies.
Deployment at Examination Centres
Magistrates and police personnel will be deployed at all centres to ensure orderly conduct of the examination. Female security staff will be responsible for frisking female candidates, officials said.
Additional arrangements include regulated entry checks and adequate police presence to maintain discipline at all venues.
Transport and Public Facilitation
The state government has announced free travel for candidates on Bihar State Road Transport Corporation buses to ensure smooth access to examination centres, especially for students travelling from remote areas.
Railway Police have also been directed to enhance security at stations and on trains during the examination period.
Heat Management and Support Facilities
In view of prevailing weather conditions, arrangements such as shaded waiting areas for parents, drinking water, Sattu, ORS supplies, and on-site medical teams will be made outside examination centres.
Officials said these measures aim to reduce inconvenience for candidates and their families.
Yoga Day Coordination on June 21
As International Yoga Day also falls on June 21, the government has instructed departments to ensure that related events do not interfere with the examination schedule.
Authorities reiterated that the smooth and secure conduct of the NEET re-exam remains the top priority.
Daily Monitoring of Arrangements
District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been directed to conduct daily reviews of preparedness until the examination date. The administration said the objective is to ensure a malpractice-free, secure, and well-coordinated examination process across the state.
