Patna: Bihar government has allotted brand new government residences to 220 newly elected MLAs, marking a significant upgrade in the state’s official housing system. The homes, located on Patna’s Veerchand Patel Path, were assigned after Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar completed the allocation process. A formal notification was issued on Saturday evening, confirming the distribution of the residences based on constituency numbers.
These allocations come after the completion of a major construction project aimed at providing modern, secure and comfortable living spaces for all 243 MLAs in the state. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently inspected the new complex, which has been designed to support legislators as they carry out their official responsibilities. The residences are part of a larger plan to modernise housing infrastructure for public representatives in the state capital.
Each MLA has been allotted a fully furnished 4BHK duplex bungalow equipped with spacious rooms and modern amenities. The design includes a guest room, an office space and a separate room for the personal assistant. The ground floor features an open kitchen and dining area, while the first floor has three large rooms along with a master bedroom. A guard room on the top floor has been included to ensure enhanced security. Every house has six restrooms, making it practical for families and official visitors.
The project covers an impressive 44 acres and has been designed to function as a complete residential township. Each bungalow spans around 3,700 square feet, giving MLAs ample space for personal and professional needs. The complex includes an MLA hostel, community centre and canteen. Special measures for water conservation and waste treatment have been implemented, with treated water being reused for plantation. LED streetlights have been installed across the complex to reduce energy use. Every bungalow is labelled with the constituency number and MLA’s constituency name, making identification easier.
Newly elected MLAs are expected to shift into these residences soon. Compared with the older flats, the new bungalows provide a significant improvement in safety, convenience and overall infrastructure. Many legislators have expressed satisfaction with the upgraded facilities, saying that the spacious and well-managed complex will help them work more efficiently. The project is not only a step towards modern housing for MLAs but also a major development in Patna’s government infrastructure.
