Patna: Bihar police have denied reports that three suspected Pakistani terrorists entered India through the Nepal border, stating that investigations showed they left for Malaysia instead.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Pankaj Darad said on Friday that initial intelligence suggested three men – identified as Hasnain Ali of Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain of Umarkot and Mohammad Usman of Bahawalpur – might have crossed into Bihar before August 15. Their names and passport details had been circulated to security agencies, prompting heightened checks along the India-Nepal border.
Darad confirmed that strict surveillance was carried out in the border districts with assistance from the Special Branch, Crime Investigation Department and Sashastra Seema Bal. However, further investigation revealed that the men had travelled from Dubai to Nepal, and later flew to Malaysia.
“There is no evidence of their entry into India,” Darad said, adding that links to Jaish-e-Mohammed could not be established during the verification process.
Earlier, police in Motihari had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information on the suspects, following intelligence warnings. The alert has since been scaled down, although officials stressed that border vigilance remains in place.
