Patna: On the 13th day of the Voter Adhikar Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav reached Siwan as part of their state-wide campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list.
The yatra, which began in Bettiah and passed through Gopalganj before arriving in Siwan on Friday evening, has drawn large crowds along the route.Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of “stealing votes” and called it an attack on the Constitution. Addressing a rally, he declared: “We will not allow the theft of votes to happen at any cost,” and led chants of “Vote chor, gaddi chhod.”
Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot also joined the march in Bettiah, where he condemned derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a separate incident in Darbhanga, clarifying that Congress had no link to it.
Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party, arrived in Patna on Friday and will march with Gandhi and Yadav from Chhapra to Bhojpur on Saturday. “The exodus of BJP from Bihar is certain,” he said, adding that the voter rights campaign had energised opposition unity ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
