Patna: Ten panchayat heads from Bihar have been invited as special guests to the Independence Day celebrations at Delhi’s Red Fort. They were chosen by the central government for their outstanding work in cleanliness, environmental protection and public welfare. The group left for Delhi on Wednesday.
Those invited include Suman Nath Thakur of Jajuar Madhya Panchayat in Muzaffarpur, Kumari Tripti of Parthu Panchayat in Nalanda, Nibha Kumari of Panahada Panchayat in Jehanabad, Prema Devi of Motipur Panchayat in Samastipur, Ravi Kumar of Kurkuri Panchayat in Patna, Virendra Kumar Singh of Tumba Panchayat in Rohtas, Manju Devi of Khurahan Panchayat in Madhepura, Kanti Devi of Koran Sarai Panchayat in Buxar, Ramji Sharma of Sanda Panchayat in Gaya, and Pooja Kumari of Garari Panchayat in Gaya.
These panchayats have led efforts such as promoting biogas, conserving water, making compost from organic waste, and running cleanliness drives. They have also worked on government schemes like Har Ghar Jal, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin, and Mission Indradhanush.
Officials said the presence of these panchayat leaders at the national event is a matter of pride for Bihar and reflects the growing role of rural leadership in shaping development.
