Patna: The Bihar minister for panchayati raj, Deepak Prakash, began the New Year by visiting a school for visually impaired children in Kumhrar, Patna, where he spent time with pupils and staff and pledged his first month’s salary to support the institution.
During the visit, Prakash spoke with children about their daily routines, education and extracurricular activities, and watched cultural and educational performances prepared by the students. He praised their efforts and described the interaction as inspiring.
“Ensuring the inclusion of every section of society, especially persons with disabilities, is a core responsibility of public life,” Prakash said. He added that the confidence and resilience shown by visually impaired children offered an example to society of “living with hope and enthusiasm even in difficult circumstances”.
The minister announced that his first month’s salary would be donated to the school to help improve basic facilities and meet students’ needs. He said the contribution was intended as a commitment to the children’s future rather than a symbolic gesture.
Nitin Bharti, state spokesperson of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, said the programme concluded in a simple and emotional atmosphere. School administrators and teachers expressed their gratitude, he added, describing the visit as a reminder of the importance of compassion, cooperation and inclusivity in public life.
