Patna: Indian Railways has announced temporary halts for seven pairs of trains at two stations in Prayagraj to manage the surge of pilgrims travelling for the Magh Mela.
The trains will make additional two-minute stops at Prayagraj Rambagh and Jhusi on select dates in January and February 2026, railway officials said, in a move aimed at improving passenger flow and reducing crowding at Prayagraj Junction.
Saraswati Chandra, the chief public relations officer of East Central Railway, said the measure would apply to 14 services, including the Jaynagar–Lokmanya Tilak Pawan Express, Sitamarhi–Anand Vihar Lichchavi Express, Danapur–Udhna Express, Jaynagar–New Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express, Darbhanga–Pune Express, Raxaul–Lokmanya Tilak Antyodaya Express, and the Darbhanga–Ahmedabad Antyodaya Express.
All listed trains will halt at both Rambagh and Jhusi stations during the period.
Railway officials said the two stations are more convenient for devotees visiting the Sangam area, where large numbers gather for ritual bathing during the Magh Mela. The temporary halts are expected to make disembarkation closer to the festival site and help ease pressure on the city’s main railway junction.
