Patna: Three smugglers have been arrested with 8 kg of ganja from the Kotwali area in Patna, following a targeted police raid near Patna Junction. The accused—Vakil Rai, Firoz, and Bablu Kumar—had allegedly been operating their illegal business from a kiosk situated adjacent to the railway station.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the SSP’s special cell raided the kiosk and recovered a significant quantity of ganja. Authorities confirmed that the location had long been a hub for drug peddling, with previous sting operations revealing ongoing sale and purchase activities. Each time a sting was conducted, the smugglers temporarily shut down operations, only to restart once attention faded.
Police sources suggest that the smuggling operation has strong links to the Raghopur Diara region, a known hideout for criminal networks due to its difficult terrain. The ganja was allegedly sourced from this area and distributed in Patna, attracting customers from across the city and even beyond.
One of the accused, Firoz, is reported to have posed as a police officer to dominate the area’s drug trade. He would wear a police uniform to threaten rival peddlers and even arranged arrests of competitors to eliminate competition.
All three arrested individuals are currently being interrogated at Kotwali police station.
