Patna: Political tension is mounting in Bihar as posters calling for Tej Pratap Yadav to be appointed Chief Minister appear across the capital. The campaign comes amid his announcement to contest the Mahua assembly seat and his recent break from family and party ties.
The posters, reportedly put up by Rajesh Nirala Yadav, a former Nawada Assembly candidate, depict Tej Pratap as the “real image of Lalu Yadav” and urge Lalu Prasad Yadav to declare him as the state’s Chief Minister. Slogans on the posters proclaim, “Bihar ki pukar Tej Pratap this time, Lalu ji’s dream, Tej Pratap is ours” and “Jan Jan ki yeh hai baat, CM ho Tej Pratap ho.”
The debate over who will lead Bihar in the 2025 elections has intensified. Discussions continue within both the Mahagathbandhan and the NDA regarding the future Chief Minister, with Tejashwi Yadav and CM Nitish Kumar being the primary contenders. Tej Pratap’s entry has added a new layer of uncertainty.
Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from his party and family following a personal controversy, after which he formed his own political team with several smaller parties. While campaigning, he has also criticized Mahagathbandhan leaders and questioned the intentions of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav in a recent video, warning of “bad results in the elections” if certain local leaders are not addressed.
With Tej Pratap’s Mahua candidacy now a focal point, the unfolding political drama highlights both internal party tensions and the unpredictable nature of Bihar’s upcoming elections.
