Patna: The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) has approved the construction of a promenade along the Ganga in Patna, linking Sabhyata Dwar to Collectorate Ghat, at a cost of Rs 12.38 crore.
The project will create a 425-metre-long and 4.5-metre-wide walkway, complete with lighting facilities. According to officials, the new stretch is expected to benefit local residents as well as tourists visiting the Ganga Research Centre and Museum.
The walkway is also designed to provide easier access to the riverbank during Chhath Puja, one of Bihar’s most important festivals, when thousands of devotees gather at the ghats.
Authorities said the project aims to improve public spaces along the Ganga while supporting tourism and community activities.
Urban development experts note that riverside rejuvenation projects have become a priority in Bihar, with an emphasis on combining cultural heritage with modern infrastructure. The promenade forms part of a wider effort to create safe, accessible and attractive public spaces in Patna.
