Patna: The Bihar government has unveiled special tour packages for devotees visiting Gaya Ji during the Pitru Paksha festival from September 6 to 21. The initiative aims to facilitate Tarpan and Pind Daan rituals, which are performed to honour deceased ancestors, while also promoting regional tourism.
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has announced a range of travel packages that allow pilgrims to participate in the religious ceremonies at key sites including Vishnupad Temple, Akshayvat, and the banks of the Falgu river. For those unable to travel in person, an e-Pind Daan service will enable devotees to perform the rituals remotely. The process includes a video recording of the priest chanting mantras, performing rituals, and offering puja materials, which is then shared with the devotees.
In addition to the religious ceremonies, the packages offer guided visits to historic and cultural sites across Gaya, Patna, Nalanda, Rajgir, and Bodh Gaya. Options include one-day and two-day tours, with accommodation choices ranging from budget hotels to three-star hotels and resorts. Prices start at Rs. 13,450 for in-person packages, while the e-Pind Daan package is priced at Rs. 23,000.
Bookings are open via the BSTDC website, and further information can be obtained by contacting their helpline numbers. The tourism department emphasises that the packages are designed to provide convenience and support for devotees in completing the religious rituals with guidance from trained staff.
