Muzaffarpur: An induction programme was held at Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) on Thursday in the presence of Pratyaya Amrit, Development Commissioner and Chief Secretary-designate of Bihar, as chief guest. The District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur also joined as special guest.
Amrit, a 1991 batch IAS officer, was introduced with praise for his work as Katihar DM, where he introduced the PPP model, and for his reforms at the Sonpur fair in Saran. His efforts in health and rural development were also highlighted.
Speaking to students, Amrit recalled his own connection to Muzaffarpur, where he studied at Prabhat Tara School, and said it was his first visit to MIT. He shared that the state cabinet had approved the construction of a new hostel for the institute. “This is a decisive time in your life,” he said, urging students to focus on both academics and extracurricular activities. “Always be proud that you are from Bihar.”
He added that Bihar’s economy was changing fast, opening new opportunities for the youth. He encouraged students to become problem solvers and analytical thinkers, stressing that satisfaction in work was more important than grades.
Students asked questions ranging from UPSC preparation to public speaking. Amrit advised them to focus on studies during engineering and start civil services preparation later. He said success required focus, discipline and passion, and suggested practising speeches in front of a mirror to gain confidence.
The programme ended with a reminder that clear goals help balance studies and interests, leaving students motivated for their years ahead at MIT.
