Patna: The Bihar government has approved the construction of new police buildings in East Champaran, Rohtas and Lakhisarai, in what officials describe as a major infrastructure push for the state’s law enforcement. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that the projects, valued at Rs.30 crore 26 lakh 57 thousand, have been cleared to enhance policing capacity and public safety.
Under the plan, East Champaran (Motihari) will receive a three-storey office for the Superintendent of Police, complete with furniture and basic infrastructure. In Rohtas, the project will include a new reserve office and armoury at the Dehri police centre, while Lakhisarai will see the construction of a 200-bed women’s police barracks to accommodate female personnel.
Choudhary said the investments are intended to make Bihar’s policing “stronger, modern and more responsive”. The Home Department has also recently authorised the creation of a Traffic Training Academy and granted land for the permanent establishment of the Gorkha Battalion and Training Centre. Authorities are additionally considering residential schools for the children of police staff at district headquarters.
“These steps reflect our commitment to improving the policing framework and delivering better security for the public,” Choudhary said.
