Patna: Hundreds of candidates once again took to the streets of Patna on Monday, demanding the immediate release of sub-inspector vacancies in the Bihar Police.
The demonstrators, carrying flags and raising slogans, attempted to march towards the chief minister’s residence, but were stopped by barricades at the Dakbunglow crossing. Security has been tightened around the CM’s residence as the agitation gathered force. Teachers and union leaders joined the protest, amplifying the demands of job-seekers.
Candidates argued that the call for sub-inspector recruitment has been pending for months, and with the election code of conduct expected to come into effect within 10 days, fresh notifications would be nearly impossible afterwards. They pressed the government to issue vacancies without delay.
Alongside the recruitment demand, protesters also highlighted concerns over transparency in the upcoming constable recruitment exam. They alleged that candidates were not provided question papers, OMR carbon copies or answer keys, calling it an “injustice” to unemployed youth.
Student leader Dilip Kumar said: “This is the right of the candidates. They should know which answers have been accepted and how marks are awarded. Tampering with the future of lakhs of unemployed youth will not be tolerated. The entire process must be transparent, fair and honest.”
