Patna: The Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination for 1,799 posts began on Today amid stringent security arrangements, with candidates entering centres after a three-tier screening process.
The first shift of the examination started at 10am, with entry gates closing at 9.30am. The test is being conducted at 498 examination centres spread across all 38 districts of Bihar, marking a major step towards filling long-pending vacancies in the state police force.
According to the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC), the recruitment examination is being held in two shifts. The morning shift runs from 10am to 12pm, while the second shift is scheduled from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Candidates have been instructed to report strictly as per the timings mentioned on their admit cards, with late entry not permitted under any circumstances.
Officials said elaborate measures have been put in place to ensure a fair and malpractice-free examination. All centres are equipped with CCTV surveillance, jammers, biometric fingerprint verification, photography and videography facilities. Flying squads are also conducting surprise inspections throughout the day.
The preliminary written examination is being conducted over two days due to the large number of applicants, which exceeds one million. In the earlier phase of the examination held on January 18, around 70% of registered candidates appeared, according to commission data.
The BPSSC has reiterated that candidates must carry their admit card along with a valid photo identity document such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card or voter ID. Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the examination halls. Candidates have also been advised to fill in the OMR sheets carefully, as errors could lead to disqualification of answer scripts.
A heavy police deployment has been made at all centres, and the commission has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found engaging in unfair practices or attempting to cheat during the examination.
