Patna: Bihar is set to open its fourth police training centre in Katoria, Banka district, in a bid to expand training capacity for newly recruited constables. Approval has been given for the transfer of 51.40 acres of land for the project.
At present, the state has two training centres in Dumraon and Nathnagar (Bhagalpur), while a third is under construction in Simultala. Once operational, the Katoria facility will provide training to 11,000 constables, significantly strengthening Bihar’s police infrastructure.
Sudhanshu Kumar, ADG (Modernisation), said the current training centres have limited capacity, while nearly 20,000 constables are recruited each year. For now, training is being conducted across battalions of the Bihar Special Armed Police and other facilities. “With the opening of new centres, training will be streamlined, and constables will also receive in-service training as required,” he said.
The state has also cleared funding for the development and repair of police buildings across districts. This includes:

Additionally, 46 acres of land in Katoria have been provided for Bihar Special Armed Police-10 battalion, currently operating from the premises of the Bihar Special Armed Police Battalion-5.
Officials said the measures reflect the government’s push to modernise the police force and ensure effective training for a rapidly expanding workforce.
